Twenty-eight Chinese robot and brain companies read one by one, with the macro numbers, the verified productive deployments, what overseas buyers say about buying Chinese robots, and where the gaps are.
Two marks run through this post and mean what they meant in the research file. [single source] is a claim found in exactly one place. [inference] is our own reasoning rather than a sourced fact. Prices are list or quoted prices as reported; most business-to-business humanoids are quote-based.
The pass ran on 5 September 2026: about 75 web searches in English and Chinese and about 45 full-page reads, including the MERICS April 2026 report and the RoboOS-NeXT paper read from PDF text. A handful of items could not be verified in the same pass and are flagged inline and at the end.

Cross-cutting answers
Who offers a multi-robot group brain or shared memory, what does it actually do, and is it deployed
- UBTech BrainNet 2.0 (群脑网络) and Co-Agent is the only productised claim by a humanoid maker. What is documented: each Walker S2 runs Co-Agent locally (LLM reasoning, an embodied interaction model, small skill models and a chain of thought); the robots' "edge inference nodes and skill nodes self-organise and interconnect", so robots are "dynamic nodes" that "share data and learned experience" for "spiral evolution". The only concrete behaviour described in the press is map and obstacle sharing, where a blocked aisle makes others reroute. There is no architecture paper, no statement about shared task memory, no latency figures and no named factory where more than a few robots demonstrably coordinate. Deployment evidence for the swarm function is none beyond marketing. [inference] It is most likely a fleet scheduler plus a shared occupancy map plus pooled training data, not a shared working memory.
- AgiBot: the GO-2 fleet story is offline, running fleet data to cloud collaborative training to online post-training ("thousands of robots in distributed training"), plus "OpenClaw Memory" for reasoning-trace reuse per robot. Link-U OS (灵渠) 1.0 is due in 2026 and may add fleet features; nothing has shipped. No runtime shared memory.
- BAAI RoboOS and RoboOS-NeXT is the genuine technical reference: a cloud brain plus cerebellum skills plus Real-Time Shared Memory; NeXT's STEM (spatial map, temporal event queue, embodiment state) does dynamic task allocation and fault-tolerant re-planning across heterogeneous robots (Unitree G1, Agilex, Realman). Deployment is lab demos in a restaurant, a household and a supermarket, and the authors acknowledge open problems on memory update and retrieval. It is cloud-centric.
- Fourier FOCUS fleet control (WAIC 2026) is a name only. [single source]
- Huawei CloudRobo does cloud-side perception and planning for many robots; fleet coordination is implicit and memory is not described.
- Beijing Humanoid Innovation Center Tiangong 3.0 runs multi-robot tug-of-war and formation shows, which is choreography, not shared cognition.
- Geek+ RMS and PSA fleet management are real and deployed, but they are classical fleet scheduling for AMRs and AGVs; PSA builds its own with A*STAR.
- Unitree, Galbot, LimX, Booster, Astribot, EngineAI, Kepler, Xpeng and Xiaomi have no multi-robot shared-memory product at all.
Nobody in China ships an on-site, local-first, shared short-term and long-term memory for a heterogeneous humanoid team. The only things with deployment evidence are conventional fleet managers. The nearest analogues are a research framework, RoboOS-NeXT, and a marketing label, BrainNet 2.0. [inference]
What overseas customers and integrators say about buying Chinese robots
- Security and telemetry. UniPwn (root via BLE, wormable) was unpatched from Sep 2025 through at least May 2026; the CloudSail reverse tunnel (CVE-2025-2894) is still in Go1 firmware; G1 and H1 telemetry goes to China servers every about 5 min. The result is the FCC Covered List of 28 Jul 2026 (Unitree models, with UBTech named in coverage), the Pentagon 1260H list and a "Humanoid Robot Act" proposal; Alias Robotics' advice is to "disable Bluetooth entirely, isolated Wi-Fi only". TechTimes on Galbot: "no publicly documented independent security audit". The buyers' mitigation is network segmentation and firmware audit, which means the integrator absorbs the risk.
- Legal exposure. China National Intelligence Law Article 7 plus the 2026-amended Cybersecurity Law obligations "follow the manufacturer, not the device". In the EU there is no GDPR adequacy, so standard contractual clauses plus supplementary measures apply, and telemetry to national platforms is a "parallel data path". The new MIIT lifecycle registry (May 2026) pushes telemetry on joint wear, battery and "AI training history" to a national platform and expects fleet and firmware tools to integrate a government-registered identity, which is a direct problem for any overseas operator's data-residency promise. [inference on cross-border applicability; the registry is mandatory domestically]
- Support, spare parts and warranty. Gasgoo, quoting industry voices: "after-sales service delays across oceans", compliance certification per market, ecosystem integration with Siemens and Rockwell, and "immature application scenarios beyond research/education/entertainment". The Unitree warranty is 8 months on Basic and 18 months on EDU, defects only; Weston Robot's Singapore MRO centre (Aug 2026) exists precisely because factory-return service was the norm. AgiBot is flagged for "limited Western support infrastructure" and "pricing opacity". By contrast, Keenon (30-min response, 4-h fix, 48-month warranty, GDPR-certified cloud) and Pudu and Geek+ (75 to 80% overseas revenue) show that service-robot vendors solved this; humanoid vendors have not.
- Documentation and SDK. Unitree's SDK2, ROS 2 support and docs are decent and were updated in Jul 2026, but real work "requires the EDU model and significant development time", and Basic units lack compute. AgiBot pushes AIMA and Genie Studio, but Link-U OS 1.0 is not yet out. There are no English-language deployment SOPs.
- Japan sentiment. Engineers call the situation "sad"; the Omakase CTO says "you cannot sell these bipedal systems in Japan for safety and compliance reasons", which is why ZEALS ships a wheeled D1 on a G1 chassis and brands it "quasi-domestic" with Japanese AI software, control, assembly and operations. Buyers default to Chinese hardware because there is no domestic alternative, not from trust.
- Gulf. The UAE and Saudi Arabia prioritise complete machines from Unitree, AgiBot and EngineAI (36Kr); the Humanoid (UK) and QSS 10,000-robot Saudi deal shows the Gulf wants local assembly and non-Chinese software; researcher Strathearn says "2036 may even be a push".
- Firmware update control. No vendor publicly offers customer-controlled signed firmware or air-gapped update paths; Unitree updates are vendor-pushed and Galbot requires the cloud for updates. [inference from absence]
Dancing disguised as working: what is verified productive autonomy against demo
The quote is from Tang Wenbin, chief executive of Yuanli Lingji: "The robots' IQ is too low. A lot of what we see is dancing disguised as working." MERICS says demos are "seldom acting autonomously… preprogrammed or teleoperated" and that humanoids are in "small-scale, single-point trials". IDC says more than 85% of 2025 deployments were in performances, education, data collection and guided tours.
Verified, or best-evidenced, productive autonomy:
- Galbot G1 pharmacies: licensed, 24/7, 95 to 99.5% pick success, 10+ Beijing stores, 20+ cities; narrow, structured and single-vendor-operated. The strongest Chinese humanoid case.
- Siasun IGVs at PSA Tuas: about 200 vehicles in production, but these are AGVs under PSA's fleet brain.
- Geek+, Hai, Pudu, Keenon, Standard and Youibot: tens of thousands of AMRs, real.
- Xiaomi nut-fastening: 98% on one task after 4 months, internal.
- UBTech Walker S2: 99% claimed on handling and loading at auto plants, at 30 to 50% of human throughput; Zeekr kept arms for actual assembly; the customs deployment is assistive with no KPIs.
- Unitree in its own factory, JAL Haneda container loading and ETH lab transport: narrow and waypoint-scripted.
- Kepler K2 at Chunmi and SAIC-GM: bin moving and patrol; revenue of CNY 4m in 2025 says this is pilot scale.
- GigaAI 100 SeeLight S1 in Wuhan homes: a test, not a paid service.
Demos and data-farming presented as work: Spring Festival Gala kung-fu (Unitree); Tiangong tug-of-war; the Xpeng IRON catwalk; Fourier GR-3 "care" with no named institutions; AgiBot's 143 robots for a Michigan "data centre", which are teleoperation bays and VLA data generation; the UBTech Liuzhou training centre at 1 usable motion per 50 to 300 tries; EngineAI police patrol, which is presence rather than tasks; AgiBot's APC "seven deployment solutions" with no customer KPIs published. Kepler and EngineAI cite "thousands of units" in framework or intent orders against single-digit-million revenues.
Two capability limits sit under all of these cases. MERICS and Bloomberg put bipeds at 20–50% of human throughput. MERICS records manipulation's "last 10 cm → 1 mm" as unsolved.
Chinese players in Singapore, ASEAN, Japan and the Gulf, and what gaps they leave
Singapore:
- AgiBot: AGIBOT PTE. LTD. (2023) at Peninsula Plaza; market entry Oct 2025 (AIMX); Certis (Changi T5 assessment), Resorts World Sentosa events, Singtel NCS cooperation (Mar 2026 [single source]); a proposed regional experience centre, joint venture and leasing; it also routes US sales via the Singapore entity.
- Unitree: Weston Robot exclusive for 7 years, with a one-north MRO "global service centre" (Aug 2026) backed by EnterpriseSG, NRP and JTC.
- UBTech: Stellaris Robotics as exclusive Singapore and Malaysia distributor [single source].
- Fourier: Fourier Intelligence International Pte. Ltd.; the NHG Health 5-year RehabHub MoU (May 2026).

Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam: the AgiBot i-City centre (Jan 2026) and a Genting MOU; a Thailand EEC 10bn-baht components cluster (Xusheng, Sanhua, Beite, Tuopu, Seenpin), which is parts rather than deployments; Vietnam is technical exchange and exhibitions; Standard Robots has revenue in Vietnam and Thailand.
Japan: UBTech three times over (Hitachi on 11 May 2026 covering healthcare, elevators, semiconductors and logistics; Honda Trading; JAL ground operations); Unitree via GMO and JAL Haneda, and the Omakase and ZEALS D1 at Tsukuba Hospital; Fourier with Nagoya University; Booster K1 volume; Robbyant and others. The Japanese regulatory stance blocks bipeds for safety and compliance reasons, per the Omakase CTO, so wheeled forms win.
Gulf: LEAP 2026 Riyadh featured Unitree (boxing), AgiBot (AGIQUAD, "Middle East team") and HONOR, with parties "already discussing applications" but no disclosed deals; Lianhe Sowell has a $105m UAE base; Saudi Arabia's headline humanoid deal went to the UK's Humanoid plus QSS, with local production of up to 10,000 units and a first prototype in Q3 2026. Middle East robot imports are growing at a 32% compound annual rate.
Gaps they leave, on the evidence:
- Trust and security: no vendor offers audited firmware, customer-held keys or a documented offline mode, and FCC, Japanese and EU press has made "China spy law follows the hardware" the buyer's default question. Chinese vendors answer with Singapore entities (AgiBot, Sharpa), which is a flag rather than an architecture.
- Integration: PSA's fleet brain is PSA plus A*STAR; hospitals require RoMi-H (ROS 2 and DDS middleware; CGH and CHART empanelment; OTSAW empanelled Jul 2025 as a system integrator). No Chinese humanoid vendor is RoMi-H-empanelled or has published terminal-operating-system or EHR integrations. UBTech's Hitachi tie-up mentions elevators and healthcare in Japan, not Singapore.
- Local SOP grounding: all the Chinese training centres (Liuzhou, Shijingshan, Suzhou) encode Chinese factory SOPs, and the JAL and customs deployments are assistive. Nobody has published English, Malay or Japanese SOP libraries or WSH and MOM-compliant task definitions.
- After-sales: humanoid support is distributor-run (Weston, Stellaris) with factory returns; Keenon and Pudu-grade SLAs do not exist for humanoids.
- Form factor for Japan and healthcare: bipeds face compliance barriers, and wheeled bases are being substituted by locals, as with the ZEALS D1.
What Chinese players will still do better
Unit cost, which is 50 to 70% lower with components 63% China-controlled; actuator and hand supply, including Sharpa hands and Unitree actuators; volume, with 100k humanoids projected for 2026; and open model releases.

What this means for Tidewell
Nothing in this report changes what we have already published. Tidewell Brain has two modes: Solo runs everything a robot needs on the robot and is a first-class state rather than a fallback, and Crew connects every robot on the site network to one governed memory with core, short-term and long-term tiers, promoted into core memory only through a named human. On the body we buy joints, screws, sensors, cells and chassis, and build the rated-life sealed hand, the calibrated fingertip, the secure body bus, the certified pack and the safety file. The wheeled W1 is the volume product, the biped B1 goes only where legs are needed, and a Brain Kit brings bodies already in Singapore's testbeds under the same brain with the safety limit stated on the datasheet. What we do not claim is unchanged: no manipulation policy served over wireless, no weights updating across the fleet in real time, no 70-billion-parameter model on the robot, no whole shift held in the policy's context, no cross-site global brain, and no Huawei Ascend anywhere in the stack.
