Crew technology

The orchestration layer: grounding, arbitration, verification and audit across mixed fleets and the people beside them.

Crew is a mode of the Brain

Crew is Tidewell Brain in its connected mode: every robot on the site network reads and writes one governed memory on a site server, and the server plans, arbitrates and verifies across the fleet. It is sold on its own for sites that run other vendors' robots, and delivered as a Tidewell appliance by default.

Architecture

A planner proposes. A verifier checks the proposal against site rules, geometry and safety limits within a stated latency budget. A named human approves anything consequential. Only then does a command reach a vision-language-action policy or a controller. Every step is logged.

Crew layer stack: planner, verification gate, VLA policy, controllers and actuators, with an audit logAudit logNamed human approvalPlannerVerification gateVLA policyControllersActuators
Every layer writes to the audit log. Nothing consequential leaves the gate without a named human approving it.

Grounding

The site's own knowledge is the product: standard operating procedures, maps, exception policies, the terminal operating system, the warehouse management system, the hospital information system. Crew represents that knowledge, keeps it current, and calls those systems as tools.

Arbitration

Singapore hospitals, Punggol and the Tuas Living Lab are heterogeneous fleets on open middleware. Crew assigns tasks across robots from different vendors and across staff, through RoMi-H and Open-RMF, and re-plans when a task fails. A wheeled manipulator can hand a tote to a biped at a lift lobby with the allocation made on the site server and the execution on each robot.

Why it is ours

Plan-from-language is now a commodity from Google, NVIDIA, Alibaba and Anthropic. The grounding, the verification and the deployment data are not, and no hardware vendor is incentivised to build a layer that coordinates its competitors. See the product: Tidewell Crew.
